Your Malfunction Indicator light can look different in every vehicle you own, sometimes it is a picture illuminated in orange or yellow.  Sometimes it is an illuminated phrase such as:

1. Emissions
2. Power Loss
3. Check Engine
4. Service Engine Soon
5. Malfunction Indicated

 

These lights are often confused with lights reminding you of regular services that may be due based on time or mileage elapsed since the last reset of the maintenance system, these lights may say:

1. Maintenance Required
2. Service Required
3. Service Reminder
